Door to Door in Dover

About 2 months ago I was living in South Korea. During a time of prayer, I prayed for New Life Princeton Church. During the prayer God gave me a revelation similar to the one He gave to Ezekiel. He showed Ezekiel the acts of idolatry done in the temple. (Ezekiel 43.) The Lord showed me that although people attend Church service and come out of their houses, that inside their houses they have idols. The Lord revealed that the idols consisted of family heirlooms, clothes of their loved ones, and notebooks. (This doesn't mean that all of these objects for everyone is an idol, but within someone's own heart they can make anything an idol before the Lord. I am not sure what was written in the notebooks.) Much of the materials that were revealed were in attics. From this time God gave me a heart to go door to door and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the area located near New Life Church.

Mapping out Dover

So on arriving here to the United States, my brother Aaron and I decided to do door to door in Dover.

Our goal was simple:

* Knock on every door in Dover

* Preach the Gospel

* Pray over every house

* Be lead by the Spirit

* Attend to any needs we see

* Stay connected by giving them our Church information

    * Complete this in 1 day

The night prior to the ministry you would find Aaron and I discussing the route to take. We decided to break down the town by blocks. We counted 18 and a half with some of the blocks being on the side of town. After that we read Scripture and prayed for vision and wisdom. The Scriptures helped us develop formats of ministry that were carried out and commissioned by the disciples and those in the Church.

That night we received a blessing of commission by our Pastor and rested until morning. Many in Dover slept that night not knowing what was to come the next day.

"What block should we start first Aaron?" "Ahh, let's go left." And so we started. During the first few houses this is what we said...

"Hello my name is Jarid and this is Aaron. If you have some time today we want to talk to you about the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

About 10 houses later we noticed a theme. Oftentimes people said they were busy. As this occurred, we decided to preach at the door when they would open.

"Hello my name is Jarid and this is Aaron. We are Christians and Jesus is our Lord and Savior. He is the Son of God and the way the truth and the life. If you are hungry for truth, we would like to pray with you today and talk to you about what Jesus has done for us."

Some were receptive and others not so much. In other instances we would pray with them at the door.

* Knock knock. "Hello I am Jarid and this is Aaron. We are wondering if anyone is sick or has any incurable diseases. If you do, they will get healed in the name of Jesus today."

"Ahhh, we do not. But please go to our neighbor. Her name is ****."

With another knock, we looked through the screen door.

"Hello."

"Don't come in! I have covid!"

With boldness we declared from the door. "In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, covid be gone! Complete healing in Jesus' name!"

She gave us a kind thank you and we were on the way to the next house.

We finished a little more than half of the houses in Dover and decided to go back to take a rest. After the rest, we were back to it.

This time around, things became extreme. We had someone who refused to open the door and told us to leave because he was already an ordained minister. He was in no way welcoming to fellowship. Another person threated us so severely that I will not dare write it down to protect his/her security.

Picking each other up!
Other people were so kind to open their houses to us and invite us in. During one event this is what happened...

*Knock knock.

A girl in her 20's answered the door.

"Hello my name is Jarid and this is Aaron. I want to tell you what Jesus has done in my life. Before the Lord touched me I was in fear and confusion. During my time in high school I felt like I was just an influence of my surroundings. Just a mix of the influence of school, friends, media, and family. It brought confusion on my life and left me without a purpose. I knew I was born for something more and there was truth I had not yet known. During my time in college I climbed a tree and lamented to God. If the Bible is really what it says it is, then you will speak to me like you spoke to the people in the Bible. If the Bible is not real then I don't want to have anything to do with you. In fact if you are not real I hope to die because my life is meaningless. Sitting in that tree looking up to the moon I received nothing. I got down just waiting to die."

"A few days later while sitting at a desk doing my homework before class at around 6:30am the Lord answered me. It was like I was hit by a bullet in my heart. I fell out my chair and thought I could be dead. But I didn't care because the love of God filled me. It was like liquid love. The unfailing love of Christ Jesus. And He spoke to me. Do you want to know what He said? He said, "You are mine." I wept like a baby on the floor knowing this is all that I have ever wanted; the perfect love of God. It is only in Jesus Christ His one and only Son. He also wants this for you! I was on the ground for about 5 minuets. When I got up I knew my life was not my own. I gave my life to Jesus.'

She looked at us with a slight smile and said...

"Ahhh come in."

She brought us into her living room and there we prayed with her and her mom.

We were about 75% finished with the town of Dover and we paused. We looked at each other and affirmed that we would be able to finish the town that day. We picked each other up encouraged each other in the Lord and stayed committed to the mission.

We came to the last house... In the yard, in the trees, on the fence, and just about everywhere there was toilet paper. Someone had done this to their house. We knocked and no one answered. We were about to walk away when a young man started walking up to us.

"Hello I am Jarid and this is Aaron. How are you doing?"

"Doing good just got off work."

Time with the Lord after the ministry

"Oh nice hope you had a good day at work."

(Not telling Aaron, I said this...)

"We saw that your house got toilet papered and we wanted to help you clean it."

(I could just image the look on Aaron's face.)

Talking to him for a friendly 5 minuets, he said he will get the time and clean it later.

We walked back to the house and completed the task. We spoke to our leadership and testified about the door to door in Dover. Did anyone receive Jesus as there Lord and Savior and dedicate their lives to Jesus. We are not so sure. Did we give everyone a chance to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ from His servants filled with the power of God and compelled by His boldness and love, absolutely.

Mark 16

15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.
